sevenish helps your group keep meeting. to do that, we hold a few things about you. this page is all of it: what we keep, who sees it, how long it stays, and how to take it back.
what we keep
your account: your name, your email, and a photo if you add one.
if you continue with google, google gives us your name, your email, and your google profile photo. nothing else from your google account.
your groups: the groups you start or join, their nights, times, and places, and your answer for each night.
what you add: comments, photos, prayer requests, night-list items, awards, and whether you signed the book.
your reflections: how a night went, and any note you leave yourself about a night or a chapter you're reading. only you can see them, no one else in your group. we store the notes encrypted.
if you're invited to a night and answer without an account, we keep the name and email you give us, and your phone number if you add one.
your church, if you add one to your profile. only people in your groups can see this.
a few things in your browser: cookies that keep you signed in, one that remembers a guest's answer on that device for 90 days, one that notes whether your screen is wide, whether you picked light or dark, and a group you're still starting, for up to 30 days. on a church's review page, one more keeps the page open for 15 minutes.
what we don't do
we don't sell your information. we don't show ads. we don't use analytics or tracking cookies, and we don't track whether you open or click our emails.
who sees what
your name and profile photo are seen by people in your groups, by a group's hosts when you ask to join it, and by the people in a group whose night you're invited to. if you host, anyone you send your invite link to sees your first name and photo. no one can see your email.
your groups see your answer for each night and what you add there.
notes for the hosts stay with the hosts.
someone you invite to a night sees who invited them, the group, and the night's time and place. a group's invite link also shows the first names of a few people in it, and someone invited to one night can read that night's comments and who wrote them.
if you answer as a guest, the people in that group see the name you gave. your email and phone number stay with us.
a church sees your name only if you say yes to connecting your group with it, and only to confirm that one connection. adding a church to your profile does not give this permission.
if someone reports a comment, the group's hosts are told, and so are we, so we can look into it.
sevenish has no public list of groups. people find yours through the link you send.
who helps us run sevenish
supabase holds our database, sign-ins, and photos.
vercel runs the website.
resend sends our email: sign-in links, reminders, and letters about your nights.
google signs you in, if you choose continue with google. if your photo came from google, it loads from google.
giphy supplies the gifs. when you search for one, or open a group with a gif cover, your browser gets it from giphy.
our database and our email live in the united states.
the email we send
sign-in links when you ask for one, reminders and updates about your nights, and a few one-off emails, like an invitation to co-host or a note that a comment was reported. no newsletters, no marketing.
every reminder has a line at the bottom to turn them off. turning them off doesn't stop the note when a night moves or is cancelled.
how long things stay
while your account is open, your things stay.
a deleted comment comes off the wall right away. its words and photo are erased for good 30 days later, unless someone reported it and we're still looking into it.
some things clear on a clock:
- co-host and one-time invitations no one used: 30 days after they expire or are taken back.
- account-deletion links: 30 days after they expire.
- records of the reminders and updates we emailed you: 90 days.
- reports, once we've dealt with them: 12 months.
- requests to join a group, once answered: 12 months.
- a church contact address the church has retired: 180 days. if that address asked us to stop writing, we keep it, so we never write to it again.
- a guest who never made an account: 12 months after their group's last night.
a church permission you gave ends on its date if your host never sends it on, and your name comes off it.
when you delete your account
you can delete your account from your profile. we'll email you a link to make it final. nothing happens until you tap it.
want a copy of your stuff first? download my data.
when you tap it, your name, email, photo, reflections, and reading notes are deleted.
if you hold the keys to a group with someone else in it, hand them to someone first. a group with nobody else in it ends with your account — its nights, guests, comments, and photos too. any other group you're in keeps its story, with your name off of it.
your comments are your call. tick remove my comments as well and they go too. otherwise what you wrote stays, with your name off of it.
comments you'd already deleted are erased either way.
a few copies take longer to clear. our database backups are kept for 7 days, supabase keeps its logs for 7 days, and resend keeps a record of the emails it sent for 30 days. then they're gone.
if an email to you ever bounced, resend keeps your address on a do-not-send list so we don't keep trying.
vercel keeps a short record of each page request, which may include your ip address, for a day or less.
we keep one bare note that an account was deleted, with no name, no email, and nothing you wrote.
guests: every invitation has a link to delete everything about me. your name and email go away for good.
yours to change
change your name and photo on your profile. to change your email, write to us.
download my data, on your profile, gives you a copy of your account and what you've added. guests can download theirs from their invitation.
anything else you want to see, fix, or remove, write to us and we'll sort it out.
keeping it safe
everything travels over https, and the database checks who you are before it shows you anything. no system is perfect, but we build sevenish so your group's things stay with your group.
kids
sevenish is for adults, 18 and older. we don't knowingly keep anything about anyone younger. if you think someone under 18 is using it, write to us and we'll remove what we hold about them.
when this page changes
the date at the top tells you when it last changed.
questions
write to help@sevenish.app. a person reads it.
